CTRL+C CTRL+V into Word/Wordpad

It seems that more than one of my XP machines has had issues when
highlighting text from websites, notepad, etc. and doing a CTRL+C and a paste
into Word or Wordpad. Instead of pasting the highlighted text it will paste
a strange mouse cursor height phone/TV remote control looking icon. I don't
see a way to attach an image but maybe someone has seen this issue before. I
do not have this issue if I right click and click copy then paste. It's only
with CTRL+C.

Also, is there a way to see the clipboard source as this might lead to an
answer.

Not sure if the Windows Clipboard Viewer will help, but you already have it.
Located at:
%windir%\System32\clipbrd.exe
Also, there is a free program called Clipboard Magic that you could try.
Have not used it myself.
