ctrl+c & ctrl+v don't work and notepad icon is gone

I just got a new dell laptop. It came with xp home edition and I
upgraded it to professional. Since I upgraded it, the ctrl+c and
ctrl+v combinations are not working anymore. I tried another
combination that worked (I can't remember what it was though). I can
still right click and do copy / paste, but not with the keys. Also,
my notepad icon has disappeared, so it just shows up with the generic
exe icon. And when I double click a text file, notepad doesn't
automatically open it. I have to manually open notepad and browse to
the file to open it.

Last night I added 2 accounts (logged in as administrator). I turned
off the pc and went to bed. I turned it back on this morning and now
when I go to logon, the logon screen no longer has the administrator
as an account choice, but instead only has the 2 accounts I added. I
had the laptop customized the way I like it under the administrator
account, and now when I log in under one of the other ones, I'm going
to have to customize it all over again.

So, what could I have done to cause these problems? Thanks.

Not sure about the key strokes but when you add a user account the
"Administrator" account will disappear, that's the way it works. You should
have really created a user account for yourself to customise and leave the
built in account at it's default.

Just thought of something else, if you hold down cntrl+alt+del for a few
seconds at the welcome screen the standard windows 2000 login will appear
there you can type administrator and login to you old settings.
