When i press ctrl-alt-del a graph of CPU usage comes up
instead of the task manager. How do i get the task
manager to come up instead?

It sounds like you are opening Task Manager but your view is defaulting to
the Performance tab.
Try clicking the Applications tab and closing then re-opening Task Manager.
The view will persist to the last viewed tab.

Also, a quick way to access Task Manager is to use CRTL-SHFT-ESC. Hope this
helps.

Greetings --

You're running Task Manager in "Small Footprint Mode." Simply
double-click anywhere along the top or side borders to return to a
normal view. Alternatively, pressing <Ctrl>+<Tab> will allow you to
cycle between the various displays, and <Alt>+<F4> will close it.
