Ctrl-Alt-Del Displays Task Manager

Hi,

When I press Ctrl-Alt-Del, WinXP Pro displays the Task Manager, which has a
Shut Down menu option that has most of what the old Dialog Box (that has the
Shutdown, Task Manager, Change Password, Lock Computer, etc. buttons),
except it doesn't have the Lock Computer option. On other WinXP computers,
pressing Ctrl-Alt-Del does display that dialog box.

I have tried to compare settings between my computer and the others and
don't seem to be able to zero in on the difference. I'd like the dialog box
to be displayed rather than Task Manager. Any idea what may be different in
my settings?

Thanks

Do you have welcome screen enabled? You can lock Windows XP by pressing
combination of keys:

Windows Key + L

Mike

Ramesh [MVP]

The Security dialog appears only if the Welcome Screen is disabled. With Welcome Screen ON, Task Manager is displayed upon pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL.

Thanks, Kelly. That did it. I had the Welcome Screen option turned on.
Clearinf that check box now enables the Windows Security (hadn't even
noticed the dialog box caption) dialog box to be displayed.
