ctfmon purpose?

I believe that the only thing ctfmon is good for is to allow alternate
keyboard layouts. If I disable ctfmon, can I still use other
keyboards my using a manual command of some kind? What would such a
manual command involve?

Most of my work is in English. Sometimes I do multilingual work, with
2-3 different languages on the same page/project. Those languages
include Spanish, Greek, Japanese, Polish, and some indigenous
languages.

Could I just turn on ctfmon for that purpose if I need it?

Scene 2:
My sister uses only English. Never any other language or keyboard
layout. Can she safely turn off ctfmon?

Thank you.

That article helped. But I still have a question, since the article
didn't do a good job of answering this one:

Q: Can I Load Ctfmon.exe on Demand Instead of All the Time?

A: The Alternative User Input system is not designed to be loaded and
unloaded on demand.

The question is whether on-demand loading is possible, not just what
the design was.

I actually have no idea.

A boat was not designed to run on land - but I have seen those crazy races
where people modify them to do so.
(However - are they really just boats anymore?)

My point is that if it was not designed to do something (like load and
unload on demand) that does not mean you could not *force* it to do so - but
the original manufacturer is no longer responsible for what might happen to
your system if you discover a way to do such a thing - nor are they obliged
to help you find a way to do it. Do I know of such a way to do that? No -
its never come up and I don't see it coming up unless something with it
changes drastically. It's almost nil usage of my processor and its 800K to
4.7MB of memory usage just isn't phasing me at this time. (I have at least
16 things taking up more memory in the task manager right now on 4 different
computers than ctfmon...)

Thank you for your answer. If you don't know how to do such a thing,
I'm guessing it is probably not possible. I think I got sensitive to
the "not designed to" language a couple of years back, regarding
international fonts and languages, when a Mr. Kaplan was fond of
saying "not designed to" and "not really supported" ... when there
were in fact methods to do what the OP's had requested. Sorry for
dragging my attitude over here.
