Cryptographic error/problems viewing websites

hi,

our computer first started going wrong in 2004 after a windows update. When
we logged onto secure websites ie. to make purchases, or check email -
anything that required a password - it wouldn't let us. We started to use
another computer in the house, which worked but was much slower as it wasnt
broadband. I am now working more from home and need this problem to be fixed.

On searching for what the problem might be, I found this -
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...28-5053-48a7-8526-bd38215c74b2&DisplayLang=en

which is exactly what is wrong with our computer. I downloaded it, but it
said to make it work I needed internet explorer 6 service pack 1, which I
checked and we haven't got, but we do have internet explorer 6. I downloaded
windows XP servicepack 1a, and tried to download it, but I get a message
'Setup could not verify the integrity of the file Update.inf Make sure that
the Cryptographic Service is running on this computer'. It is running, and I
have searched the web for hours for every possible solution on how to fix it
- I have tried EVERYTHING - and it just will not work.

Help anyone! I need my computer back to sorts!

Thanks, Em
