Cryptographic Services- among other problems...

Sept. 17th was the last successful windows update. Everything from then on
fails. Get "Set up could not verify the integrity of the flie Update.inf.
Make sure the cryptographic service is running on this computer". I can't run
cryptographic services - get "error 998 - invaled access to memory location".
I think I've tried every suggestion on this board, with no success.

Also tried uninstalling SP2 (I ordered a disc) to reinstall, but can't
uninstall it!

Type "sfc /scannow" ENTER
Follow prompts and have Windows XP CD available.
