I get the following error message when I try to manually run the update download files. "Setup could nto verify the integrity of file "Update.inf" Make sure Cryptographic Services is running on this computer.

I verified the computer is running Cryptographic services, and tried again. I got the same message

I tried your fix, but it said I was denied access when I double clicked on the download file

But I did reboot my machine

When I tried running Windows Update. I got the following error message even though I designated the update site as a trusted site. "Your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX controls on this page. As a result, the page may not display correctly." and it would not run Windows Update

Help still needed

Follow these steps:

1. Open Internet Explorer.
2. From the top menu, click "Tools > Internet Options".
3. Click the "Security" tab.
4. Click the "Custom level" button.
5. Under "Reset Custom Settings", select "Medium" from the drop-down menu.
6. Click the "Reset" button.
7. When asked to confirm, click "Yes".
8. Click "OK".

Hi Ralph,

I tried your fix, but it said I was denied access when I double clicked on the download file.

But I did reboot my machine.

When I tried running Windows Update. I got the following error message even though I designated the update site as a trusted site. "Your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX controls on this page. As a result, the page may not display correctly." and it would not run Windows Update.

- From Start > Run > msconfig disable third-party utilities, such as
Download Accelerator.
- Verify that the date and hour of the system is correct.
- from Control Panel > Internet Options, delete Temporary Internet
Files, cookies and History.
- From IE > Tools > Internet Options > Advanced options tab, verify
that you have unchecked the option to verify revocation of server
certificates.
- From IE > Tools > Internet Options, click in language and verify
that you have defined the language of your operating system.
- Delete the folder 'catroot2' which is in \Windows\System32
- Reboot the system and try to update from Windows Update.
