Cross Reference

I have a user that is using cross referencess in the
Bibliography at the end of the document. When the cursor
is in one of the bibliography items and you press the
enter key, the document start scrolling like it thinks the
document has thousands of pages, (it only has 17 pages).
The message in the status bar says Word is repaginating
and to press the Esc key. After pressing the Esc key, a
message comes up that says Word must complete pagination
before displaying the selected text in Page Layout View.

The following is worth trying: Click the ¶ button on the Standard
toolbar in order to display nonprinting characters. Copy the
document, except for the final paragraph mark (¶) into a new
file, and see if that helps. If the document contains multiple
(Word) sections, copy each section separately, not including the
final paragraph mark of the section.
