Critical Windows Update

I am wondering about a recent visit to the Windows Update
site: there is a Critical Update posted there that is
described, "NVIDIA display software update released on
June 24, 2003, Download size: 13.6MB". My question is a
concern, first, why is a nVidia software update in the
Critical category? Secondly, if this update was released
on June 24th, why is my system just now detecting this
update during the scan? I visit the Windows Update site
virtually every single day, scanning my system for
updates; indeed as well, I have Windows Automatic
Updating service to alert me to available updates for my
system, I have never been apprised of this nVidia update
previously. Thirdly, unlike with all other previous
Critical Updates, there is not a Read More button to get
additional information about this update!! So I can't
determine what this nVidia update is designed to do or
fix, patch etc. My real concern is that, as you may
remember, there were initially several problems with the
nVidia drivers etc affecting the display on Dell
Inspiron. Remember we downloaded several drivers and
worked with those dreaded shut-downs because of nVidia
driver conflicts. So, I am VERY leery of downloading any
nVidia updates, particularly an update of 13.6MB!!! My
Dell Inspiron performs flawlessly in all respects,
including the display. Any ideas, thoughts, comments,
info on this situation? Thanks.

I downloaded and installed that particular NVIDIA update
on my Dell Inspiron and it works just fine. Why it is listed
as a "critical update" is anyone's guess. If you are unsure of
installing it, then simply create a "restore Point" and then
install it. As I mentioned, that update works fine on my Dell
Inspiron.

Thanks, Carey, for the quick response. That is great to
know about your installation working fine. Appreciate
that input. I will take your advice and create a Restore
Point and try the NVIDIA update.
