Critical Updates

Against my better judgement I downloaded and installed
the Critical Updates. Now that all updates have been
successfully installed, I get more popups that I ever
thought possible. Did one or some of the updates turn
off my popup blocker program or what? All I know is I
cannot even start Internet Explorer without getting
popups. Has anyone else had this happen, and if so, what
needs to be done to fix this extremelly annoying
problem? Thanks.

Sounds like you have spyware on your machine. Go to

www.webroot.com and download the free version of
Spysweeper. If you get rid of the spyware you'll get rid
of your popups. Some popup stoppers are bunk and are
actually spyware. Beware of anything free. There is
usually a catch. I have been using SpySweeper since
November and have had great results. Also, Lavasoft's
adaware is a pretty good freeware.

Spybot Search & Destroy is also a good spyware remover. You can find it on
Google, and it's free.

Search and remove all detected spyware. Also use the program "Shoot the
Messenger" To disable the Messenger Service in XP.
