Critical Updates??

For some time now when I check windows update via start menu it always
advises me to download security update 819696. So I select it,it downloads
ok but on installation a RUNDLL error window pops up stating "Error loading
C:\documents The specified module could not be found". I click on OK and am
told the update was successful but every time I visite windows update I am
told this same security update ineeds to be downloaded!

I'm also trying to install the free version of AVG anti virus,but when I
select setup after downloading it I get a "Can't run 16-bit Windows program"
error window with the statement " Cannot find file C:\Documents and
settings\Tony\Local settings\Temp\WZs6F.tmp\setup.exe".

Why am I getting both the above errors and how do I recify this problem??
