critical update won't install

My computer automatically finds and let's me know when there are critical updates ready to be installed. About every day, it tells me that critical update KB828741 is ready to install. I click on "install" and I get a message that it has successfully installed. Then the next day, I get the same prompt again. When I went to the Microsoft site to try to install it directly, I keep getting the message that the installation has failed. Any help?

I had similar problems, I temporarily disabled both the XP firewall and my antivirus program. I don't know if it was just dumb luck on my part or if it maybe had something to do with the installation.
 
Luck, if you disabled the XP Firewall and weren't running a 3rd party one.
You left your system open to all kinds of 'nasties' including Sasser which
is still lurking about to catch the unwary!!
