Critical Update page slow to load

I notice tonight (2/10/05 - 9pm EST) when I tried to enter the Critical
Update page that it took a longer time than usual. There were 10 Critical
Updates to download, which downloaded as usual) and wonder if that was the
cause of the slowness I noticed trying to enter the Critical Update page?
Many people downloading? Also, getting into this 'Newsgroup' took longer than
usual. Could it be that there are many people accessing MS sites tonight? Or
is it the Internet (IE6) that is just slow? Thanks for any help.

Rumor has it that the more background operations you have running cause the
processor to slow down making it all work?
There is a slight chance you inherited a bug??
Run your Webroot spy sweeper just to be sure.

ctrl+alt+delete brings up the task manager see if you have several tasks
running ??
you can stop tasks from running ?
might help....

An often-repeated statement, but one that is *not* true.

First of all, you should be concerned, not with how many of these
programs you run, but which. Some of them can hurt performance
severely, but others have no effect on performance.

Don't just stop programs from running willy-nilly. What you
should do is determine what each program is, what its value is to
you, and what the cost in performance is of its running all the
time. You can get more information about these with at
http://castlecops.com/StartupList.html. If you can't find it
there, try google searches and ask about specifics here.

Once you have that information, you can make an intelligent
informed decision about what you want to keep and what you want
to get rid of.

Thanks for feedback. I was talking about entering MS Critical Update site and
the (this) Newsgroup site being slow yesterday and today. Previously I don't
believe I had too much of a delay entering these sites. It just appears to be
slow yesterday (2/10/05 and today 2/11/05). I thought it might be the
Macromedia Flash 7 I installed and so I uninstalled that and there is still
slowness entering MS Critical Update page and (this) Newsgroup site.
I thought it might be due to many customers trying to access at the same
time, etc.
Just confusing that it should suddenly be slow yesterday and today on my
this notebook. I will try my other notebook now and see if the same. (I have
run Norton AntiVirus scan and AdAware scan but no problems.)

Well, we checked out other two laptops (WinXP, IE6; dial-up) and both of them
exhibit same 'problem' of being slow to enter the MS Critical Updates page.
Whereas before, it took several seconds (no more than 15 seconds) to enter
the page on all notebooks, now it is taking close to 2 minutes to get into
the Critical Update site. The 10 downloads had no problem downloading though.
As I mentioned originally, we thought the slowness could be caused by an over
amount of people trying to get into and getting into the site to download the
10 downloads. We thought that might be clogging up the Critical Updates page.
We wonder if anyone else notices that in the past few days it has been slow
getting into the Critical Update page. As I mentioned, previously it was not
this slow. (No new programs installed, cache cleared, etc.) Accessing other
sites is no problem. I hope things speed up soon!
