Critical Update 832483 keeps being loaded

Peter Martin

Hallo. Our Win2K server keeps being recommended to load
Critical Update KB832483. I do this, it says it successful
but when I visit the Windows Update site again it
recommends the download again. The history shows its been
loaded 3 times.
How can I tell if it really has been updated? and stop the
recommendations?
Thanks - could you email me th answer too?

Thanks again
Peter

Hi

Most likely the MDAC version is to old on the computer so the patch
will not install.

This security update requires that you have any one of the following
MDAC versions installed:

MDAC 2.5 Service Pack 2
MDAC 2.5 Service Pack 3
MDAC 2.6 Service Pack 2
MDAC 2.7
MDAC 2.7 Service Pack 1
MDAC 2.7 Service Pack 1 Refresh
MDAC 2.8

(ref. http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/Bulletin/MS04-003.asp )

I suggest you upgrade to MDAC 2.8 and see if it solves the problem,
you can find the download link here:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/downloads/list/dataaccess.asp

If your server is running a clustered installation of
SQL Server 7.0 or 6.5, please take a look here:

After the MDAC upgrade, you could download KB832483 from
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/Bulletin/MS04-003.asp
and install it manually.
