MDAC hotfix 832483 not installing

I have the same problem as GG (Jan 19 2004)
"I keep trying to install "Security Update for Microsoft
Data Access Components (KB832483)" using Windows Update.
The installation history says its installed but then it
appears as a critical security update again and again --
no matter how many times I reinstall and whether or not I
restart".

I have tried install with everything I can think of
disabled - antivirus, etc. No luck. Have noticed some
negative side effects with web pages not loading.

Hello Dave,
This problem is under investigation. At present it appears that the update
is attempting to install the patch to a system that does not require the
update. At present I do not an ETA on a resolution.

I was having the same problem on my IIS, so based on the
response from Curtis Clay I decided to try it that way. I
installed MDAC and then did the patch. Problem gone.

I have been having the same problem. No word from
Microsoft on this??? (of course not!)

I am also having the same problem. I see no reference to
it in the knowledge base.
