I have created templates in outlook for many years but
when i received this new computer with xp and outlook
2002 there is no .oft extension in the save as drop down
selections to save my document for reuse. I do use word
2002 as my e-mail editor but I haven't figured out how to
overcome this minor obstacle. I also update the templates
that I create once a month or as needed, and I am unable
to save my current template.

thanks, Hugh

Turn off WordMail as your editor before editing a message form.

I turned it off as suggested then shut down outlook and
restarted and everything worked as expected, thanks, Hugh

No need to shut down Outlook. You can turn WordMail off to work on a form,
save the form as a template, then turn WordMail back on to compose messages.
