Creating photo CDs that are MAC compatible

G

Guest

Hi,
I have several pictures all in folders I created in Window's Explorer. I
burned these photos to a CD. My friend has a MAC computer. He can see the
file system but can't open the pictures. How can I create a CD he can see the
pictures on. The pictures are JPG files.

Thanks
Kelly

What software are you using to burn the CD? If you are using Windows XP
built in functions then you may not be able to create a readable CD for the
MAC. To exchange files on CD between MAC and PC it is best to format the
disk using ISO 9660 file system, this can be read on both the MAC and PC
Platforms.

I use XP, Copy to CD command, and my daughter can open them on her MAC with
no problem.
Open the folder containing the photos, select the photos you want to copy
and look at the menu on the left under Picture Tasks. The last command is
Copy to CD and this will initiate the copying procedure.

Yves,
I have only had success using Roxio or Hotburn Pro when copying CD's
that are going to be accessed with a MAC. CD's created on my PC using XP's
Built in function have been viewable but files were inaccessible when viewed
on my Mac and this also occurs with my PC and Mac laptops as well, I won't
even use Mac's built in CD burning for the same reason. You can have success
but to guarantee success it is better to use CD writing software such as
Roxio CD Creator, HotburnPro......

I get your message, strangely enough I have been exchanging from XP to MAC
and MAC to PC with my daughter with no problem. I have Roxio v.7 but I hate
to recommend spending the money just to copy some photos.
