Well, strictly speaking, users don't need a prepared space: you can add
text anywhere. But you can make it easier for them by providing either form
fields or MacroButton fields. Unless the entire document is a protected form
(see http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customization/FillinTheBlanks.htm and
especially the forms tutorials by Dian Chapman that this article links to),
form fields are not appropriate, but MacroButton fields can be quite useful
and easy to use; see http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/TblsFldsFms/UsingMacroButton.htm.
