You multi-posted.. again.
Please - cross-post if you feel your topic is relevant to more than one
newsgroup.

Although - in some ways this is a new topic - it should have continued with
the original thread so everyone would better understand how you got into the
situation you are in now.

Your Outlook stores its mail (that you likely POP) in a .PST file. (File
with the extension PST) You can import that file (once you find it) into
outlook AFTER you have gone through and setup Outlook per your ISP (Internet
Service Provider) or your email providers instructions on the matter.

Usually that pst file is:
c:\Documents and Settings\your OLD user name\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.pst

I suggest NOT trying to move settings over. Documents and favorites and
such - sure.. But not settings - as it is likely the corrupt areas are in
the registry or settings files of your old profile - unlikely that they are
in your documents/files/pictures/emails/spreadsheets/favorites/etc.

You can take ownership of the files/folders for your old profile.. Then you
can go through the profile (particularly the documents and desktop and
favorites folders) and copy what you need to your new profile directory.

(C:\Documents and Settings\ is the folder where the profiles are stored.)

This did not work. All I wish to do is to copy my old mail and rules from the
older outlook to the new profile outlook. the only option I see even close
is to copy files from outlook express of which i did not use I used outlook.
When I try and import from the old outlookfile i get this:

The mail folder could not be opened. If another application is using this
file please close it and try again.

What am I doing wrong?

You really need to post this message to an Outlook specific newsgroup.

First, visit this website and search for a solution.

To move a Personal Folders .pst file to a new location:

If no joy, post your query in one of these groups.

Where is the microsoft windows xp pro outlook posting area?

Outlook is a part of Microsoft Office, not Windows XP and has it's own support groups. Please post to one of the groups in my previous reply.

I am having a problem with my user profile in Windows XP as well..
My computer will boot up and show my user name. When I click on the user
name, my computer starts with "satellite" on the desktop. None of the icons
will open. How can I get my computer to come on with my username settings
