Create Microsoft Personal Folders error message.

Hello Everyone,

I installed Office 2000 Pro and I'm trying to open Outlook but get the
following:

A window pops up with an exclamation mark in a yellow triangle, the window
is called "Personal Folders". In this windows a message states "This
information service has not been configured. Select an existing file to
configure, or type the name of a new file to create." I click on "OK" and
another window pops up called "Create/Open Personal Folders File". In the
"Look in:" section the "Outlook" folder is already open with a file called
"Outlook.pst" is in the folder. If I highlight "Outlook.pst" or create my
own file name and click on "Open" another window again opens. This window
is called "Create Microsoft Personal Folders". In this window it shows the
location of the file I just created (Example: C:\Documents and
Settings\Admin\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\Izzy.pst),
a default name called "Personal Folders", I can also set the "Encryption
Setting", and the "Password". If I click on the OK button I get another
window that states "Microsoft Outlook has encountered a problem and needs to
close. We are sorry for the inconvenience...Please tell Microsoft about
this problem." After I click on "Send error report" or "Don't Send", the
window closes and so does Outlook. I am using WinXP Pro as my OS. Is there
a way to fix this problem?

Thanks to all who reply,

Ismael

Hi Ismael,
Right-click on Microsoft Outlook on your desktop and open Properties. The
Mail Setup window appears. Click the button labelled Data Files.... From
your problem, it sounds as though one of these entries is incorrect. Look
for an entry where the filename is described as 'Not available' or something
similar. Hilight this entry and Remove it. That should fix your problem

Thanks for the help...looks like I had a bad copy of Office 2000 pro. I
installed Office XP pro and everything runs great.
