Create An Automated Install CD?

I've been reading up on the procedure to make an automated install disc, and it seems I'm all set to go ... except for one thing. I'm not exactly sure which updates to include (meaning, do I download them, take them from my 'Windows' folder, or from 'Windows\WinSxS' ?
The service pack and drivers are all set, but the updates would make it that much more secure, before connecting to the internet, and that much less to do each time I re-format.

Thanks for the link....seems there's a bit more to this
than the first article I read, but with a bit of
practice, I'm sure I'll get it.
For the 'be prepared, don't blame anybody but your own
lack of foresight'....I'd say that's true for many things.
Thanks again.

your other best bet is to create a slipstreamed windows
cd with SP1a and other hotfixes (although hotfixes can be
a real pain to setup) as its not as simple as saving
certain files most of the time.

otherwise, wait until sp2 comes out in the next month or
two, and create a slipstreamed sp2 disc, then you wont
have to worry about 10 smaller hotfixes.

I moved the windows xp pro to my computer and made sure that all
files are their even the hidden ones. when I make the WINNT.sif file
and put it on the cd the cd does not boot. can anyone help. I need
to use just the cd because some of the pc's are laptops without
floppies. If I use the original xp pro disk and put the winnt.sif on
the floppy and use both then it works. How do I get it to work with
just the cd.

Are you following the proper directions to create a BOOT CD in whatever
burning application you are using?
