create a footer that updates text from body of report

I am creating a report in Word 2003 that has an idenfication number
associated to each report. I would like to pull the report number into the
footer so that when I use the first report as a template for subsequent
reports I do not have to edit the footer just the title of the report. Do I
use a version of hyperlink or some other function.

Bookmark the first occurrence of the number (i.e., in the title), then use a
{ref bookmark} field in the footer where you want the number replicated.

1. Select the report number, and choose Insert - Bookmark. Type a name for
the bookmark (e.g., ReportNumber), and press Enter.

2. Navigate to the footer, press Ctrl+F9, type REF name (e.g., REF
ReportNumber), and press F9.

If a footer doesn't update to the correct number when you create a new
report, then click on the report number field in the footer and press F9 to
update it manually.

A StyleRef field is another good way to do this, and it updates
automatically in the header/footer.
