create a email invite to a meeting WITHOUT Outlook

I don't have Outlook but would like to send someone a email to invite them
to a meeting.

I think that's a vcalendar file? Anyone know an easy way for me to make one
wihtout having Outlook?

I'd use an iCalendar file (.ics) instead, but either one should be just a
plain ASCII text file with specific commands in it that you can create with

Hopefully it worked I sent an email with an attachment.

I do have Windows Vista on my laptop, maybe I'll look at the calendar
program on that.
