I have a small home network of three PC's all two running
xp pro and one running with xp home edition. They are
connected together with standard cables and plug into a 4
port Belkin Router.

This format has worked for me for a long time, however, I
recently completed a fresh installation on one of the
PC's and set it up for file sharing on all folders and
drives etc.

When I access the PC from another PC via network places
as soon as I try tranfering data, it reboots itself. I
am running McAfee Security Centre instead of Norton,
other than that nothing else has changed.

Anyone any thought on this?

Regards

Sime

Sounds like a driver problem on the target machine.

Set it to not reboot following a STOP error,
so the error screen remains visible.
The Blue Screen Of Death might flag up some
clues as to what's falling over.

WinKey-Break -> System properties window.
Advanced Tab;
'Startup and Recovery' section; 'Settings' button;
Clear 'Automatically Restart'.

Go to Device Manager and un-install the network adapter for the LAN
connection. Reboot and let XP detect and re-install it.

If that doesn't solve the problem, go to the network adapter
manufacturer's web site and download and install the latest XP driver
program.
