Crashes/Power Problem?

I have multiple crashes so I reinstalled win 2k. With only
a few apps loaded it crashes when trying to install IE 6.
The apps I have loaded are:IE5,Zone Alarm and Adaptec
Direct CD. I uninstalled Norton Systemworks.
Could this be a power problem?

Could be power supply, though that would be at the bottom of my list. Could
be RAM, could be hard disk, could be software.

Try it without the Adaptec software ... many, many people report it as flaky
at best.

How does the machine crash? Does it just hang and become unresponsive? Is
there a blue screen with error information? If there is a blue screen, what
is the content of the error message? Once you restart, what info can be
gleaned from the event log?

Try it again. Install Windows 2000. Immediately install at least SP3.
Install your other Microsoft software. Install Zone Alarm last. Do NOT
install the Adaptec software nor the Norton software. Is it stable ... no
unexplained crashes? If so, then install only the anti-virus portion of
Norton.
