crashes on open or spyware scan!

Everytime when I Rt. click on the Microsoft Antispyware icon in the system
tray and click Open or Run a spyware scan it crashes with 'Microsoft
Antispyware Main has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry
for....."

I am running XP, SP1. Any help is apprectiated.

Still on SP1??? Wow....You're a brave one...
How can you do serious beta testing and go on the
internet when your security features are so
outdated ...plus over 100 features addressed by SP2 ...
plus many critical security updates for SP2?
Just my humble assessment...FWIW.
Maybe others can offer more specific answers.
