Crashes due to device driver error

I have crashes fairly often where the windows analysis
report repeatedly points to a device driver error. The
most recent crash error blue screen report was "valid dll
file not found, windows now deleting" Also, each time I
restart my computer, windows installer "repairs" MSN 6.0
to support messinger, ect., which we use because we like
the explorer interface, even though we installed MSN 8. I
have to restart the computer at least once per week due
to loss of access to mail (freezes) or loss of access to
my DSL or email verification. I have to restart the DSL
modem, computer, and go through the "repair"
installation. Should I be experiencing this much
trouble?

No, you shouldn't have that much (or frequent) difficulties. If you can
determine the device which may have the bad, improper or corrupt driver
(software that makes the device work), AND it used to work before updating a
driver, use the following article:

If you introduced a new device to the PC, go to the device manufacturer's
website and download the latest driver (ensuring it's compatible with
Windows XP).

Thanks for your reply. I have attempted your suggestions
before, but was not able to identify a bad driver. I did
review my event history and found the following most
common sources of problems: Under system events, I had
(1)AMLI / ACPI BIOS, attempt to write illegal IO port
address, (2)Dhcp, computer has automatically configured
IP address for the network card with network address ____
where the IP address being used is _____, (3) W32 Time
issue. Under Application events, Maininstaller MSN 6.0
configuration successfully completed (essentially every
time I have to shut down the coputer due to problems).
Currently, every start up has the error 38427 for valid
dll file not found, windows now deleting. Is this all
related to the driver incompatibility?
