crash after installing new hardware

hello,

-- I've installed a Sony DRU700A DVD RW as a slave device
-- BIOS detects it as a slave --> OK
-- but as Windows 2000 is strating up and I get my desktop on the screen
he crashes and says there was something with my ntoskrnl.exe

-- I deconnected the drive and then there was no problem anymore

-- I retried several times but without succes

-- I als tried to find a solution at Sony's website, but there was
nothing to find

has anyone an idea how to correct this problem ??

Have to ask, is there any specific method of installing this device outlined
in the manual?
eg digital cameras often dont install correctly unless instructions followed
explicitly.
Must confess I've found Sony dont do tech support.

I have a dru 510 which installed with no trouble at all. Therefore I
have taken a picture of my search for that file. If you don't have any
of those files (notice that there are different sizes) in those
places feel free to come back and I shall send the appropriate one to
you - or set it up where the picture is right now and you can
download. the address is http://members.iinet.net.au/~borge/temphelp
As you can imagine the name to look for is temphelp. Remember it is
only a picture - downloadable but just compare it to your search.

I have the same files, but a bit larger, on those places

the blue screen only appears if I have the DRU700A connected
so I don't think the problem is in the ntoskrnl.exe
