Crappy video quality?

Hey,
I use to have windows98 on this machien but recently went XP PRO
SP2....

I installed drivers for my motherboard via (VIA actually is name) form
their site and then I installed the video drivers for my nvidia video
card. I play game such as MOHAA fine and can see clearly even before I
installed drivers. The problem is playing video files.

I watch alot of videos on my computer. When I try and play a video,
the quality sucks. The sound is good. But when it plays video it looks
almost like there are 256 colors or something, just really really
crappy.

Please give me some help on this, i really need it and want it! I NEED
TO SEE THE VIDEOS BETTER! lol thanks,

Give us more of a clue... what kind of "videos" are you playing... files?
DVDs? Something from an online source?

If files, what are their extensions?

Also what are the pc specs, if it's an old pc which you have just installed
XP on, it may not have good enough specs to play them.
