CPU usage.

Hi all.
I use an excellent graphics program which runs slow and after checking that
it's not my memory, space, spyware or virus issues, it may be that I need
to get a new graphics card that will blast more.
Before that though it was also suggested that I may have too many programs
running in the background. I've minimised my start-up list to just antivirus
and firewall and bare Window essentials.
But when I go to task manager to processes, there seems to be way too much
stuff there. 55 and most I don't recognise.
Is there a way of finding out what these are. Or at best finding out what XP
needs to have so I can stop process on the others.

55 for me would be pretty normal. There's a program out there that is
useful for many things, including what's active in your PC.

You should also run as many spyware and virus detection tools as possible to
make sure you are clean.

Hi J,

Download and run Process Explorer. Look for the process that's taking
up all the CPU time. This will help narrow the search.
