CPU Temperature

What in the bios should I set my CPU temp. alarm at??
Also, what is a normal temperature for case and CPU with
good ventalation??? I have a P4 3.06 with 1066 Rambus
memory. Thanks!!

Go to the Intel web site and look up the spec sheet on your
CPU. That will give you an idea of what to expect for operating
temperatures. www.intel.com

How hot it will run depends on how much of the time your machine is in
the System Idle process - this includes a HLT instruction, which has
quite a cooling effect. My P4 1500 runs to about 61 or 62 C (say 140 F)
if I am running a background program that soaks every last CPU cycle -
if I suspend that it drops about 10 C to 49 C or thereabouts in a couple
of minutes. The Intel spec for this CPU is a max temp of 73 C rising to
76 at the 2GHz frequency - I don't have the specs for the faster ones to
hand (they can be found in the Intel site), but I'd suggest perhaps 65 C
for the warning
