cpu is at 100%

Yesterday i installed a backpack cd RW drive ever since
then i cannot turn my computer on. It comes on but is so
slow it never actually comes up...so i tried safe mode and
the cpu is still at 100% it will not do anything??? any
suggestions short of throwing out the window??

Before you throw it out the window have a look at Task Manager|Processes tab
to see what process is consuming the mem/cpu Also for safety sake flag the
area below your window ahead of time.
