Corsair xms 3200 being reported as pc2700 in SiSandra?

Rick

I have two different 512mb sticks of pc3200 ram in my PC. One of them
reports(in Si Sandra) it is indeed pc3200, the other more expensive
stick of corsair xms3200 is reporting that is only capable of pc2700
speeds. The system runs fine but I was thinking of upgrading to a
800mhz bus system, in which I believe I would need to run my memory at
200mhz, no?

Anybody have an idea whats up with the corsair, or know of a more
accurate test?

Thanks, Rick

Try AIDA32 to see if it reports the same thing. Maybe the programming
in the SPD is screwy.

The Corsair 3200 stick is probably one of the early modules that was
manufactured prior to release of JEDEC spec. for 3200, so it's programmed
like a PC2700 stick. Doesn't affect the actual speed potential, you'll just
need to manually set the timings.

These older XMS3200 sticks are becoming quite valuable because they
typically OC higher with tighter timings than the recent-manufacture XMS3200
sticks using Winbond CH-5 chips.
