I have restored my computer to death using recovery and hive fixes. Initial
results looked good however my computer continued to fail (can't load windows
because of corrupted system file). Bottom line is I have limited use of my
computer now with quirks every where. System tools are no longer working
too. I want to start over but do not want to loose my hard drive data. I
have a new virgin hard drive with 250G of space. How can I transfer my
existing files onto this drive and then re-install Windows xp on my old
drive. All my IDE ports are used up and I don't know how to connect in my
new drive without disconnecting and existing drive. Am I asking too much?

You can temporarily remove your cdrom drive. Connect the new drive and
format. You can then transfer the data. If you
need additional IDE ports you can get a UltraDMA PCI Card or
Master/Slave your IDE drives if you havent done so.
