Corrupted msi.dll file

Somehow my msi.dll file became corrupted. My son, who also
has windowsXP, uploaded a copy of his file to me. However,
my existing file won't delete because of the "File in use
by windows" standard message. The file is in
c:\windows\system32. Is there a way to do the override?
