Corrupted file problem in Frontpage 2002

I have a page in my website, page5.html that has a link to rosetour.htm (it
is a photo page created with the wizard in Frontpage 2002). Everytime I
publish this site to my domain, the rosetour.htm file gets corrupted. Even
if I have it set to only publish changed files, and rosetour IS NOT one of
the changed files on my local pc. I have to go to my FTP client and copy
the rosetour.htm to the public_html directory of the domain website, every
time I publish anything to the site. Even if I try to publish the
rosetour.htm to my website, (selecting it alone) it does not publish
correctly. I can only get it to work by copying the file to the domain from
the FTP client.

So, everytime I add something or change something (even if it has nothing to
do with rosetour.htm), and I publish to the website locale, rosetour.htm
somehow becomes corrupted, and I have to go into the FTP to copy
rosetour.htm to the domain so that it works again.

Does anyone have any idea how to fix this problem, or why and/or how this is
happening?

One option is to mark the file not to be published and open the live site directly in FP, and run a
Tools | Recalculate Hyperlinks so that FP knows the file has changes, since you have used FP to up
load.

Another option is to create a subweb/site for this file and all associated images and just use FTP
to upload it, and never open the subweb/site in FP.

Thanks, Thomas.

One more question. The rosetour.htm file gets corrupted whether it is
published or not when using FP. It gets corrupted when publishing other
files to the site. I view my "publish log" to make sure it did not get
published, but it still gets corrupted... What is causing this?

Another solution is to not use the photo gallery, instead just create a table with number of rows
and columns. Insert a two column table into each cell, left cell photo, right cell text. A quick way
to do this is view your page in the browser, then do a save as, and then import the page and folder
back into your web.

Are you still using WS_FTP to Publish to your web? I see there's an WS_FTP log file in one of the directories. Mayhaps 3rd party ftp is corrupting your FP extensions.

What happen when the file get corrupted?

I really don't know other than the file size is either larger or smaller
than it should be. When viewed though IE, it just shows the header
information but none of the pictures and it is repeated twice. I can't
imagine why it gets corrupted though, as most of the time I publish to this
website, it is on files that have nothing to do with it.

Hi Rob,

No, it ONLY gets corrupted when I use FP to publish to the site. I have to
replace the rosetour.htm file using WS_FTP to fix the corrupted file every
time after publishing through FP. After publishing from FP, the file size
on rosetour.htm is different than it is supposed to be, and does not
display correctly. After replacing it through WS_FTP, it displays
correctly.

What I cannot figure is how it is getting corrupted, and how to keep it from
getting corrupted.
