Corrupted Disk

An often used website tells me that a backup disk I created, as I often do,
is corrupted. I needed the disk to do a re-install. I do not think the disk
is bad. How can I check on the integrity of the disk - I have the backup on
a Zip disk as well as on a cd. Thanks
