In my web, fp 2002, one page apparently has been
corrupted. It is accessible on the web, but when I try to
open it, the page opens, then invokes another copy of FP
in task manager and freezes completely. Is there any way
to repair this page or hack into it in some way to remove
whatever snippet of code is offending? I tried to restore
my backup and discovered the same issue happens in the
backup copy.

here's a copy of the url:

Is News a subweb?

Don't know how you did it but the page is filled w/ hundreds of illegal tags choking FP
<face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" size="2">
All after the February Info-Pak

Recommend rebuilding it
- try copying it from the browser to a new page

News is not a subweb.

I'll try rebuilding from browser. I don't suppose there's
any other way to get into the page to delete the code?

You could try opening it in notepad in FP to delete all those bad tags only
- but it may mess up your nav bars and themes
