Corrupt OS?

I have a new Dell notebook (my only pc) with XP Pro. I received the first
one in mid December and after about 2 weeks I was having problems that tech
support determined to be a corrupt OS. Instead of having me reinstall they
sent me a new pc.
Now after about 2 weeks this one is doing the same things. They say it may
be a software problem, but I have the same software on my old pc without any
problems.
I cannot go online without having to restart the pc. If I am on for a while
it loses the connection. Then I get error windows. One is "bad image... is
not a valid windows image." Another is ahen I click on a folder to open it I
get a message "unable to expand folder. server is not available." The only
network this pc is on is I still have my old one. It is turned on right now
next to my new one. I am not having any problems with it.
When I resart, evrything is ok for a little while.
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Start/run, type DEVMGMT.MSC , then rightclick network device, Properties, uncheck the box on the Power Management tab.

Thanks Mark, I tried that but it hasn't helped.

It would not cost too much to get another Network card put in. You may have some network card or card driver problem.
