I get a '$MFT is corrupt and unreadable, Please run the
CHKDSK utility' error on my Raid 5 data volume.
I first noticed there was a problem when I was unable to
amend any file permissions.

I have run CHKDSK /F over the volume and this initially
proved successful. The problem has now returned.

Has anyone any idea's to the cause\fix?.

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Pete

I think an excessively fragmented MFT can cause problems. After you fix
it w/ chkdsk, you may want to run a defragger that is very good at
defragging the MFT. PerfectDisk is very good at thiss.

Muchas Gracias Ricardo. Interesting. It is a large data
vol extensively used. Maybe the zone is full and needs
increasing as well as a defrag.
I will try this. Again thanks.
