Corrupt LSASS.EXE file?

After an install of a MS program yesterday when my laptop
is started WinXP Pro boots and then returns a system
error that there is a problem with LSASS.EXE and it
reboots again...

Any ideas how to fix this using the recovery console so I
don't lose any data?

Thanks!

After scouring the internet, I found a solution that
worked for me!

You have to download NTFSDOS from www.ntfsdos.com in
order to get access to the security, sam and default
files. (The software and system files are too large to
load onto a floppy.)

I saved those files to floppy, rebooted into XP's
recovery panel and then saved the renamed files to the
config folder.

Rebooted and everything came back up!
