lsass.exe system error

"lsass.exe - System Error an invalid parameter was passed to a service or
function" appears after windows loading starts and when I press OK PC
reboots.I can boot from the WinXP CD and get to the recovery console.Nothing
seems to have any effect ,such as repair from CD,I don't have a Win auto
system recovery disc.I've read several posts about this problem, but not sure
of what to try next.Is this a virus or something else as I have no Internet
conection on this PC.Can I try to install XP over the current OS ,and will
this fix the lsass.exe file or will this be seen as having 2 versions of XP
on the Drive? As a last resort how do I format the Drive from the recovery
console,can it be done?

Did you find an answer?
I'm in the same boat as you. First got a "System32" Corruption error
and used Recovery Console to manually fix. Then, upon completion of
that fix, when my system should have booted up again sucessfully, I got
the Isass.exe - system error. So, I can't boot up and I don't know
what to do next.
