I reboot my system this morning and when it started
booting back up it said the harddrives needed to be
scanned so I let it do its thing. They found no issues,
When I got to the login screen I had a pop-up saying there
was a "Delayed write failed" issues. Also there is another
popup window that comes up when I try to get around
the "Delayed write issues" as they can't be closed.
This new window comes up when I try to login useing my
password saying "Windows cannot load the locally stored
profile".
I have booted from the WinXP Pro cd and then tried the
Repair option but it send me back to the cmd prompt of my
boot drive and gives me a list of help options, but I
can't even dir the harddrive to see whats still on there.

Is there a way to access the login so I can at least setup
a quest account so I might bypass these problems till I
can fix them? Or is this all related to a virus? And if so
is there a free virus program that I can use from a
command prompt boot?

Hi Kara,

You may want to try loggin in as "Administrator" --
you can achieve this by pressing ctrl-alt-del twice at the
welcome screen..more then likely your adminstrator p/word
will be blank or just use what ever p/word YOU MAY have
set when installing windows---you may have to delete the
old profile & log in again so a new fresh profile can be
created...

can you let me know if this helps you

regards,

martie.

Well I honestly wish I would have seen your post sooner,
I did manage to log in under safe mode but the time it
took to load really concerns me. I managed to get my virus
scanner up and running and of course I had a few nasty
viruses. They are gone I think but I still have Delayed
Write error messages popping up that prevent a normal
login. I created a new low level access account just in
case as well as deleteing the one that had the issues.
I can't reinstall windows for a fix as it says there is a
unfinished install and it won't upgrade/fix windows till
its finished. I have tried restoring but the Delayed write
errors seem to be messing that up. I am out of ideas..and
very open to suggestion (last resort format etc).

Kara,

If you checkout the log in the "event viewer" which is
in control panel/administrative tools/event viewer -- you
should see a few listings for it..with a id number... you
can type that ID number into www.eventsid.net & this may
help you out... have u tried logging onto the system in
normal mode (NOT SAFE MODE) as "Administrator" -- just to
see what results it gives you,

Best Of Luck
