Corrupt DB

Bryan Hughes

Hello,

I am working on access 2003 db. It was working fine. I was making some
modifications and it became corrupt. I assummed I had made a mistake.
I began again from a backup, with the same results 5 times.

I have cheeked my coding along the way and I cannot find anything wrong
before this happens. I run debug no problem. I go to save and that is when
the problem begins. I cannot not recover the work in it becasue it will not
even allow me to import into a blank database, also compact repair will not
work on this db.

This is the error message I receive:
This error can appear if you try to convert an Access 97 database to a more
recent Access database. If the database was not compacted prior to
performing this operation it is highly recommended that it be compacted as
soon as possible. Also, all macros and programs in the VBA projects
associated with the database should be compiled.
The database usually does not convert properly if the database is corrupt or
has many references to entries marked as deleted but not yet removed from
the database. Performing a compact and repair and then compiling it assures
the database is free of defects.
If necessary, you can import the data from the Access 97 database into a new
database using the File - Get External Data... - Import menu options of
Access.
More information about this error message online.

This is not a Access 97 databse.
It did mention something about OLE not being found, so I reinstalled My
office 2003 app and reapplied the updates. It still happens

Please help

What will be the points, grievances, and damages in your lawsuit? If people
have data, source code, or other intellectual property, and people are
dependent on Microsoft, and if Microsoft sabotages what it has already
provided, you would have a case. Doing a new version that isn't backward
compatible is not sabotage of previous released software. Other companies
I've dealt with make new stuff backward compatible as a matter of ethics.
Microsoft does not do this, unfortunately. But such would not represent
damage to you in a civil suit. You simply don't have to use the new
software.

Maybe it's time you choose a different product. Hmm, hows about so
Delphi?

Actually this complain is valid. There are many times we'd like MS
outside of the Office group to take Access seriously.
