corrupt check boxes???

When I go into the settings of some software on my PC the check boxes have a
lot of black and gray in them and it's difficult to see if there is a mark
in the checkbox. I have tried changing the resolution but it does not help.
This problem appeared after a clean reinstall of XP.

Any suggestions, please, to correct the problem.

Sounds like you have disabled (in the registry) the offending software
with your re-install.
You'll have to re-install your software.
