Checkbox Next to Mail Message - How Do I Make It Visible? How Do I Make a Check Appear?

Using Hotmail/Outlook, the checkbox next to my email messages are not visible until I actually select the email message. Once I select the email message, the message is highlighted and indeed "selected" (to be deleted or moved, etc.), but there is no check in the box, indicating that the message is "selected".

How do I make the checkbox visible from when I initially open my mailbox?

How do I make a check (or "X") appear when I select the email?

I appreciate the help.

As far as I know you can't; unless someone else knows how.

In the Inbox mouseover a message and the checkbox appears. To tick the checkbox click in it.
