I am new to the Windows operating system after using Macs for a long
time and seem
to have moved my file tree around and occasionally get certain errors.
The last one was a
black screen and could not find the hard drive. Errors like this
happen after this Dell
Latitude D600 goes to sleep for a while. What is the correct file tree
and how do I back
up data?
Many thanks

What do you mean by 'File Tree' ??

Hi,

Not being able to find the hard drive is not a problem with the file
structure, it is a problem with the hardware. It could be a loose cable or
corrupt file system. The former requires reseating the cabling, the latter
may be resolved by running chkdsk c: /r from the recovery console (but only
if the drive is found by the system bios).

Click start/run, type cmd and click ok. From the prompt, run TREE /?

Basically, the term is an alternate way of describing the directory
structure.
