I wanted to copy an Excel spreadsheet to a paint program (I used Microsoft
Paint and Irfan View).
I had selected something like 10 columns (A-J) and 152 rows.
When I did the paste op, the system hung on attempts to do it to both the
bitmap graphics applications.
I think I figured out why.
I tried it on a smaller selection (cols A-C and rows 1-10), and it made an
exact image (661 x 335 px) of the spreadsheet as it would appear with the
client windows at 100% zoom/magnification.
So that explains the hang: with the selection I made, it probably would
have been 4000 pixels wide and 50,000 pixels high. Windows probably should
have stopped at such an attempt.
My question is---short of reformatting the spreadsheet (smaller font use,
smaller widths and heights of cells)-----how might I reduce the image
created so that it is not humungous and does not cause a hang?
