Copying audio

I need to record a phone call on my PC. What's the best way to do it without
buying hardware? I have a wireless headset that allows me to listen to calls
but it also means I have a jack that maybe I could plug into the microphone
jack on my PC if I bought an adapter. I'm thinking I could use the recorder
program that comes with Windows. Has anybody tried this? Will I end up with
a 500 gig file for a 2 minute call? Will the audio be OK?

You may want to look into the legal restrictions and implications for
recording phone calls.

In that case I would try the "microphone in" jack on the sound card.
Another possibility is the "Aux in" jack(on the sound card) if you have
one and then what ever software you have for recording. the "Sound
recorder" can be jerry rigged into service but it's not particularly
user friendly.

Even so it's sticky. My state requires All Party Consent,
so if you aren't a party to the call (say you left it on)
you could be in hot water.

The mic jack would work, but it seems to be that the 60
second recording limitation of Microsoft's Windows Sound
Recorder is being overlooked... You'd need to get some
other tool to record longer than 60 seconds.

You can launch multiple instances of sndrec32. That would still leave you
with two separate 60 second files, but it'd be something.

This is the kind of info I was looking for. I didn't know there was a 60
second limit. Anybody know of shareware I might want to try?
